Rabbi Miah is currently working as Deputy Commissioner of Narayanganj and prior to this, was working as Deputy Secretary at the World Bank Wing of Economic Relations Division under Ministry of Finance. He remarkably served as Additional Deputy Commissioner in Narayanganj & Chittagong; Upazila Nirbahi Officer at Savar, Dhaka; First Class Magistrate in Rural Electrification Board (REB), Dhaka; and also as First Class Magistrate in Narayanganj.
Rabbi Miah, a member of Bangladesh Civil Service and belongs to 17th BCS (Administration) Cadre. He obtained his Bachelor and Masters in International Relations from the University of Dhaka. He stood First in Honours and achieved First Class First position in Masters. He did another Masters at Tsukuba University, Japan with Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship Program (JDS) of Japan. Due to his outstanding result in Masters, he was awarded with Monbukagakusho (Monbusho) Scholarship to complete PhD at the same University of Japan. But, for some professional obligations, he had to get back to the country in the midst of his PhD program research. Along with the above scholarships, he was also awarded BIISS-Ford Foundation Scholarship in 1996 for M.Phil Program but could not finish his program due to joining in Bangladesh Civil Service. He was again awarded Commonwealth Scholarship for PhD Program in 2013 even though he regretted the PhD Program . Remarkably in his respective discipline, he stood first in JDS Scholarship of Japan, BIISS-Ford Foundation Scholarship, Monbusho Scholarship of Japan and secured second position in Commonwealth Scholarship. Meanwhile , he was appointed as a teacher at the Department of International Relations in the University of Dhaka, as well as an Assistant Superintendant of Police. He also served as Deputy Manager of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), Dhaka and as Probationary Officer at Arab-Bangladesh Bank Ltd., Dhaka.
Rabbi Miah performed Umrah in Saudi Arabia in 2015 and 2019 and visited a number of countries for Higher Studies, Trainings and Study Tours such as Japan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, United States of America, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Australia, Singapore, United Kingdom, Canada, Thailand, India and Egypt. Apart from the mother tongue, he became skilled in communicating in English, Japanese and German languages.
Rabbi Miah is blessed with one son Nehal Shahriar Rabbi and one daughter Raisa Binte Rabbi along with his wife Misses Najmun Nahar. His mother Misses Rezia Aziz is alive but sadly to note that his father Mr. Abdul Aziz passed away in 2004.
