Current Status

Mr. Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, PPM, the current Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Dhaka Range, Bangladesh Police was born on 12 January, 1964 in a respectable Muslim family of Shreehail village under Sullah, Sunamgonj. He joined Bangladesh Police as Assistant Superintendent (ASP) in 1989 as an officer of the 1986 Batch of BCS (Police) Cadre.

Glorious Achievements

In his long illustrious career, Mr. Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has served various important units of Bangladesh Police, notably Police Headquarters, Metropolitan Police, Armed Police Battalion and different districts. He also made brilliant contributions to global peacekeeping by working in at least three UN missions. His glorious career has been furnished with assignments like Assistant Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), ASP of Armed Police Battalion, Sadar Circle ASP of Brahmanbaria district, Raigonj Circle ASP of Sirajganj district, Hajiganj Circle ASP of Chandpur district, Additional SP of Chandpur district and ADC of DMP. He has also served as Superintendent of Police (SP) of Nilphamari district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP, AIG (Establishment) and AIG (Confidential) at Police Headquarters, Dhaka. Later he served Dhaka Range as Additional DIG. On promotion, he held vital positions like DIG (Operations) at Police Headquarters, Dhaka and DIG, Mymensingh Range. Before joining as DIG Dhaka Range, Mr. Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun served as DIG (Admin) at Police Headquarters, Dhaka. In recognition of his outstanding contribution and distinguished service to Bangladesh Police, he has been awarded the prestigious “President Police Medal (PPM) – Service.”

Countries Visited and Missions

Mr. Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun played pivotal roles while working in United Nations-led peacekeeping missions in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Liberia and Darfur. He attended quite a few prestigious professional trainings both at home and abroad, which include International Commanders Program at NPIA, Bramshill, UK and 23rd Session of Pacific Training Initiative (PTI) & Global Challenges for Law Enforcement Course organized by FBI and US Embassy at Bangkok, Thailand. He is widely travelled and has visited many countries of Asia, Africa and Europe.

Personal Life

In his personal life, Mr. Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, PPM is happily married to Dr. Tayyaba Musarrat Jaha Chowdhury and blessed with two sons and a daughter.
